Wheat Ridge voters approved 1/2 cent sales tax increase to fund the renovation of Anderson Park along with three other projects in Wheat Ridge. Project plans include the renovation of Anderson Park and Building, and the outdoor pool bath house.
The Prospect Park Master Plan was created to enhance user experience. A variety of improvements will serve to make existing activity areas more user friendly, and create new recreation opportunities throughout the park. Phase I has been completed and Phase II construction will begin soon.
The construction project will improve rider safety, ADA accessibility, fire access, maintenance operations, and parking. Project includes:
Construction contract was awarded to Murphy Construction in the amount of $154,645. The Department received a Federal Trail grant which will cover 50% of the cost of the project.

Trail is complete but work continues on the parking lot. The parking lot and access road remain CLOSED through the winter season.
The new playground features standalone peak rock climber, attached rock climber, arch bridge, croquet climber, summit climber, vertical ladder, bongo plate, ball maze, bubble panel, cork screw slide and straight slide. Playground equipment was supplied by Landscape Structures. Demo and installation was completed by Rocky Mountain Recreation.

A new irrigation system was installed to improve water use efficiency, water coverage and water delivery. Irrigation can be controlled and adjusted remotely via mobile devices reducing maintenance time.
